What is Creative
Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is based on a simple yet powerful principle: the body holds its own wisdom, and through muscle testing, it can guide us toward what is ready to be seen, understood, and brought back into balance.
The practice of muscle testing allows us to communicate with the body in a subtle but direct way. It can highlight where stress, imbalance, or unresolved patterns may be held, whether these are showing up as physical, emotional, environmental, energetic, or even subconscious or subtle body layers.
Creative
Kinesiology
Rather than diagnosing or treating in a conventional sense, Creative Kinesiology is a collaborative process. Together, we ‘track’ with muscle testing as a way of listening to what your body is communicating and work with it to support a return to balance, clarity, and ease. In this way it supports self-empowerment and your own ability to work with change outside of sessions and take the next best steps most suited and optimal to you.
We work closely with the muscles and their relationship to the different organs in the body as well as the meridian system in accordance with Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Elements. This broader picture allows for us to acknowledge a wider realm of information relating to the body and its energy systems as a whole, and work with aspects of the subtle body, energetics, emotions, nervous system, environmental factors etc in addition to the physical level.
Creative Kinesiology was founded by Carrie Jost in 1989 arriving on the back of many years of teaching, training and practice. This version of kinesiology was developed to create a practice that celebrated creativity and co-creation in sessions so that the level in which the body and person could be witnessed was truly met and honoured.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Kinesiology draws on the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), particularly the understanding of the body as an interconnected energetic system.
Within a session, we often work with the meridian pathways, channels through which energy flows throughout the body and the acupressure points found along these pathways.
By identifying where energy is flowing freely and where it may feel restricted, depleted, or overstimulated, we can begin to understand what the body needs in order to restore balance and harmony.
The Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, also originate from ancient Chinese philosophy and offer a beautiful framework for understanding the natural rhythms that exist both within us and around us.
Each element reflects a phase of life and energy:
-
growth and vision
-
expansion and connection
-
nourishment and stability
-
release and refinement
-
rest and renewal
These cycles are constantly moving within us. When we begin to recognise and work in alignment with them, rather than resisting them, we create space for deeper balance, resilience, and wellbeing.
Why Choose Kinesiology
People are often drawn to kinesiology when they feel there is something deeper beneath what they are experiencing, whether that’s physical discomfort, emotional challenges, or a sense of being stuck or out of alignment.
Creative Kinesiology offers a space to explore the root of what may be creating stress in your system. By listening to the body’s responses, we can begin to unravel patterns, release stored stress, and support your system in finding a new state of balance.
Every session is unique, guided by you and your body’s priorities in that moment. The aim is not just short-term relief, but supporting meaningful, lasting shifts that ripple through all areas of your life.
